When should I contact Open Door Unlimited to start looking for a new position?
There is not a set rule on this. Typically, six to nine months is sufficient time. For a physician in training you can start 9-12 months ahead of your graduation Physicians with visa issues should allow minimally one year.
Does Open Door Unlimited work with J1 and H1B physicians?
Yes. Your physician placement specialist will help you find an H-1B and J-1 Visa position or state and/or federal loan repayment for those needing these types of positions.
Do you make Locum Tenens placements?
No.
When I interview for an open position, who pays for travel expenses?
This varies from facility to facility. Most hospitals and health clinics will pay for reasonable expenses associated with an interview. In some situations the physician will schedule their own travel and the facility will reimburse the expenses. Your Open Door Unlimited Physician placement specialist will find out this information and will notify you prior to the interview. If you need to schedule your own travel you can schedule this on Open Door Unlimited travel.
I have accepted the open position, who pays for relocation expenses?
This may vary from facility to facility. In some cases, a certain allowance will be given for relocation expenses. It is always important to ask this question after the interview during the negotiation process.
I am not licensed in the state that I am interested in locating to. Who pays for the licensing for that state?
In most cases, all fees for licensing are paid for by the physician. In certain situations, the facility will pay for these fees. Be sure to check out each state license requirements.
What are my responsibilities? What are the responsibilities of the physician placement specialist?
Your responsibility is to provide us with your CV and information about your clinical and geographical interests. And it is our responsibility is to find the right position for you!
